QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The protest camp organised by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside the Quetta Press Club continued for the 6,186th consecutive day on Saturday, under the leadership of VBMP Executive Committee member Niaz Muhammad, maintaining one of the longest-running sit-in protests against enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

Delegations from various sections of society visited the camp throughout the day to express solidarity with the VBMP’s demands. Representatives said that families of the missing persons have been enduring prolonged mental anguish and uncertainty, and called for an immediate end to enforced disappearances across the province.

The visitors demanded the immediate and safe recovery of all forcibly disappeared individuals, an end to the practice of enforced disappearances, and that the state ensure the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights in accordance with the constitution and the law.
