QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Balochistan High Court Suspends Terrorism FIR Against Akhtar Mengal
The Balochistan High Court on Wednesday suspended a terrorism-related First Information Report (FIR) registered against Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal and halted proceedings in the case, following arguments by his counsel, Sajid Tareen Advocate.
The FIR was registered against Sardat Akhtar Mengal over an interview he gave during the Lakpass sit-in. A key hearing in the matter was held today, after which the court issued a stay order on the FIR. Proceedings in the case have been stopped, and the hearing has been adjourned until a later date.
The case was heard by Justice Iqbal Ahmed Kasi and Justice Rauf Ata. Supreme Court advocate Agha Hassan Baloch was also present at the hearing.
Speaking after the hearing, Sajid Tareen Advocate welcomed the court’s decision and described it as a victory for legal and constitutional rights. He said courts are the last resort for the public to obtain justice and that if the courts fail to deliver it, people will be left with no other option.
