QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan government has set an Oct. 30 deadline for about 5,000 families, roughly 30,000 people, living in the Shoor parud mountain range in Kalat district to relocate to designated camps, officials announced.
Authorities warned that forcible eviction proceedings will begin against anyone who refuses to leave.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Muhammad Hamza Shafqat made the announcement at a press conference in Quetta. The so-called Provincial Home Minister Ziaullah Langove and Shahid Rind, the chief minister’s adviser on media and political affairs, were also present.
Shafqat said Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has approved the relocation plan for the affected population. He said arrangements are being made to provide the displaced families with food, medicine, tents and other basic necessities.
The Khuzdar commissioner has been assigned to oversee the operation and coordinate relief efforts, he added.
Shafqat said the Shoor parud range is state-owned land but assured that the claims of people currently living there would be given proper consideration.
According to officials, the relocation has become necessary because of security concerns and the activities of what they described as anti-state elements.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has previously condemned eviction orders in Kalat, calling them state repression and collective punishment. Activist Sammi Deen Baloch has alleged that forced evictions, home demolitions and restrictions on essential supplies are violating the rights of communities across Balochistan. navbharatliveasianetnews
Local media have also reported displacement in other parts of the Balochistan. Residents of Zamuran in Kech more checkpoints, movement restrictions and drone surveillance were pushing families to leave, and the IANS news agency reported that residents in other areas are reportedly being displaced ahead of anticipated military operations. Thousands of residents have also reportedly left villages in Gwadar district, with local sources saying authorities gave no explanation. balochistan families flee ancestral homes amid pakistans intensifying crackdown 20260907125923 +2
Allegations that security forces have burned civilian homes and forcibly disappeared people in Kalat come from Baloch rights groups and residents.
