KABUL, AFGHANISTAN: Turkish and Qatari Intelligence Chiefs Visit Kabul
According to reports from Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, the intelligence chiefs of Turkey and Qatar visited Kabul following repeated requests from Pakistan.
The purpose of the Kabul visit was to discuss the closure of Afghanistan’s trade routes, among several other matters.
According to information received from Kabul, Turkish and Qatari officials also discussed the situation regarding the de-escalation of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, mutual negotiations and the restoration of trade routes.
It should be noted that relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have remained strained for a long time, affecting key trade routes between the two countries.
In recent months, Afghanistan has also intensified efforts to reduce its trade dependence on Pakistan and promote alternative trade corridors through Iran and Central Asia.
It is worth noting that Pakistan is currently facing a severe internal economic crisis; following the suspension of trade with India and Afghanistan, Baloch armed groups the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) have imposed restrictions on trade passing through Balochistan to Iran under what they call an “economic blockade.”
