LONDON: Sarang Hyder, known as Sarang Sindhi, Coordinator of the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS) – Europe Chapter, conducted an awareness campaign in Geneva, Switzerland, during the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, highlighting the issue of enforced disappearances in Sindh.
On September 23, he organized an awareness camp for Sindhi enforced disappearance victims at the Broken Chair monument in front of the UNHRC, displaying a banner demanding the release of missing persons along with photographs of victims. The camp was visited by Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, Kashmiri, Gilgit-Baltistan and other human rights activists.
The same day, he attended a protest at the Broken Chair organized by the Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM), where he delivered a speech. In the evening, he attended the World Sindhi Congress (WSC) Sindh Conference and spoke on enforced disappearances in Sindh.
On September 24, Sarang Hyder attended a protest organized by the United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP), delivering a speech condemning enforced disappearances in Kashmir. He later attended the 12th Balochistan International Conference at the Geneva Press Club, hosted by the Baloch National Movement (BNM), where he met with human rights activists to discuss enforced disappearances.
On September 25, he attended the WSC’s exhibition and protest at the Broken Chair in front of UN headquarters, delivering a speech on the human rights situation in Sindh. He then attended a BNM rally calling for the release of forcibly disappeared Baloch persons, followed by a Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) protest in front of the UNHRC, joining calls for the release of missing Pashtuns and an end to human rights violations against them.
The VMPS Europe Chapter’s tour spanning from the UK to Geneva aimed to raise international awareness of enforced disappearances in Sindh and build broader support for the movement.
