After four months in captivity, Assistant Commissioner of Tump, Muhammad Hanif Noorzai, has been released. On Wednesday night, he was flown from Turbat to Quetta on a special aircraft.
It should be noted that on June 4, 2025, in the morning, while traveling to Quetta to spend Eid holidays, Hanif Noorzai was abducted by armed men near Aasyabad in Tump. Later, the Baloch armed group, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), claimed responsibility for the abduction.
Following the incident, a 20-second video was released showing Muhammad Hanif Noorzai in a mountainous area under the custody of the BLF. In the video, he introduced himself and explained that he was on his way to Quetta when BLF fighters intercepted him. He said that his family, driver and security guard were respectfully released in a nearby village, while he remained in BLF’s custody.
At the time, the BLF spokesperson stated that the abducted Assistant Commissioner had been handed over to the group’s investigation team for further inquiry and that a decision would be announced after the investigation was complete.
However, no official statement has been issued by BLF regarding his release.
