
In Quetta, Brewery Road, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) reportedly raided the home of a young lawyer, Advocate Hakim Baloch, last night and forcibly disappeared him after taking him into custody. According to eyewitnesses, CTD personnel surrounded his house late at night and arrested him without presenting a search or arrest warrant. His whereabouts remain unknown since the incident.
Hakim Baloch is a young, active lawyer and a student of the Bar Vocational Course. The legal community has strongly condemned the incident, stating that the enforced disappearance of a practicing lawyer is not only a violation of the law, but also an affront to the judiciary and fundamental human rights. Lawyers have demanded his immediate release and called for a transparent investigation.
Meanwhile, Hakim Baloch’s family has expressed deep concern over his disappearance. They stated that they fear for his life and safety, and emphasized that if he were wanted in any case, he should have been produced before a court in accordance with legal procedure.
Both the legal community and human rights organizations have urged the immediate recovery of Hakim Baloch and called for an end to enforced disappearances.
