The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a deadly assault on the central camp of Pakistani military forces in Surab, Balochistan. According to a statement released by BLF spokesperson Major Gahram Baloch, the attack took place at approximately 9:30 PM on the night of July 18.
The spokesperson stated that the group’s intelligence wing had received information that several Pakistani soldiers were holding a meeting outside the main camp. Acting on this intelligence, BLF fighters launched a coordinated assault, first throwing hand grenades at the gathering and then opening heavy gunfire. As a result, six soldiers were reportedly killed on the spot.
Following the attack, the spokesperson added, Pakistani forces attempted to encircle the attackers, firing indiscriminately in all directions, including into civilian-populated areas, and launching several mortar shells. However, the BLF fighters reportedly retreated safely under the cover of darkness and returned to their positions unharmed.
Major Gwahram Baloch concluded the statement by affirming that the BLF accepts full responsibility for the Surab attack, claiming to have killed six personnel and wounded over a dozen others.
