In the Mashkay area of Awaran, Balochistan, a young man in the custody of Pakistani military forces has reportedly been tortured and shot dead.
According to sources, the victim has been identified as Masood, son of Khuda Bakhsh, a resident of the Lakki area of Mashkay. Pakistani army personnel, along with members of their affiliated death squads, allegedly forcibly disappeared Masood from his home around 20 days ago. His mutilated body was recovered earlier today.
Reports further indicate that this was not Masood’s first encounter with enforced disappearance. Last year, he was also abducted by Pakistani forces and later coerced into making a press conference against Baloch pro-independence organizations.
It is worth noting that a pattern of custodial killings has emerged in Mashkay. More than 20 individuals who were previously forcibly disappeared have been killed in this region so far.
