Turbat: A symbolic three-day hunger strike camp, organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) Kech, continues into its second day in protest against the arrest of central leaders. The camp has seen participation from lawyers, political and social activists, human rights representatives, and members from various sectors.
The purpose of the protest is to raise voices against the extrajudicial arrests of activists including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah Jee, Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi, Comrade Bibgar, Mama Ghafar and Imran Baloch, as well as the indefinite extensions of cases under the 3MPO (Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance).
Notable participants in the camp included President of the Kech Bar Association Advocate Abdul Majeed Shah, Asa Zafar, Manzoor Ahmed Baloch, Gulzar Dost of the Turbat Civil Society, BNP’s Haji Aziz Baloch, Che Riaz Ahmed, and Advocate Abdul Majeed Dashti.
Speakers emphasized that the baseless arrests of activists and inhumane treatment before judicial proceedings are violations of basic human rights. According to BYC, the leaders have been held in custody for several weeks without being presented before a court, which contradicts constitutional and international human rights standards.
BYC representatives stated that the protest symbolizes breaking the silence against oppression. They called upon international bodies, the legal community, and human rights organizations to take immediate notice and demand an end to the arrests.
