Syed Umair Shah filed a complaint with the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), stating that his brother Syed Anas Shah, son of Syed Noor Shah, is a college student and resident of Kalat. On June 13, while traveling with his family from Kalat to Quetta, at around 1:30 PM, personnel from CTD (Counter-Terrorism Department) and other state agencies stopped their van near Khad Kocha, Mastung. They forcibly took Syed Anas Shah off the van and into custody. When the family questioned the forces about his whereabouts, they were told that he was being taken for “investigation” and would be released afterward. However, even after 7 days, Anas has not been released, nor has any information been provided regarding his condition or location.
Advocate Sagheer Ahmed also submitted details to VBMP regarding the enforced disappearance of his brother, Sahil Ahmed, son of Zaheer Ahmed. He stated that Sahil is a shopkeeper who rents out loudspeakers and other wedding-related items to support his household. On the night of June 12, at around 11 PM, CTD and other forces allegedly abducted Sahil from Qila Chowk Bazaar, Kharan in an extrajudicial arrest. Eight days have passed, yet no information has been given to the family about Sahil’s whereabouts. His family is under severe mental stress, and their lives have been devastated.
At an organizational level, the families of Syed Anas Shah and Sahil Ahmed were assured that their cases would be submitted to the Commission on Missing Persons and the provincial government. Efforts would also be made to raise their voices on every platform to ensure their safe recovery.
Chairman of VBMP, Nasrullah Baloch, strongly condemned the unconstitutional arrests and enforced disappearances of Syed Anas Shah and Sahil Ahmed at the hands of the security forces. He demanded that the government take immediate notice of their cases and fulfill its responsibility by ensuring justice under the law, so that the families are spared from lifelong suffering.
