A young man who had been forcibly taken by Pakistani intelligence agencies in the Jhao area of Awaran, Balochistan, has been murdered, and his body dumped in the Jhao region. The deceased has been identified as Darman, son of Rahim Bakhsh, a resident of Chabi in Jhao.
According to sources, Darman was summoned to a military camp two days ago along with several others by the Pakistani army. While the other individuals were later released, Darman remained in custody. The next day, the family was instructed to present Darman again at the military headquarters. According to the family, while they were taking Darman back home, intelligence agents near the camp intercepted and took him away once again.
Today, Darman’s tortured body was found dumped in Jhao and identified by local residents. Sources report that the body bore clear signs of brutal torture.
There has been a continuous rise in cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. Several individuals have been killed in staged encounters this month alone.
