Quetta, April 28, 2025 — The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to have killed two individuals during an alleged encounter in the Derkshan area of Quetta. According to CTD officials, the deceased were allegedly associated with a banned organization and were planning acts of sabotage in the city.
Officials reported that a fierce exchange of gunfire lasted for about an hour during the operation. One individual was reportedly killed by gunfire, while the second allegedly detonated an explosive device, killing himself.
Following the operation, authorities said they recovered a suicide vest, a large quantity of explosives, ammunition, and other weapons from the scene.
However, human rights organizations and various circles have raised serious questions about the CTD’s version of events. Critics point out that the CTD has previously been accused of targeting forcibly disappeared persons in staged encounters.
On April 19, the CTD had similarly claimed to have killed five individuals during an encounter in district Duki. Later, those killed were identified as previously missing persons.
