If Our Loved Ones Are Not Recovered, We Will Block the Highway — Relatives’ Press Conference at VBMP Camp

Families of forcibly disappeared individuals Mir Zaman Sumalani and Ahmad Nawaz Sumalani have threatened to block the Bolan Highway at Mach if their loved ones are not recovered within a week.

According to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), the incident occurred on February 4, 2024, when Mir Zaman Sumalani, his uncle Ahmad Nawaz Sumalani, and cousin Sanaullah Bangulzai were traveling from Mach Bolan to Shaal. They were stopped at an FC checkpoint near Deegari Cross, where FC personnel and intelligence agents searched them, blindfolded the three men, and took them to an FC camp. Their phones and cash were confiscated, and after a few hours, they were moved to an undisclosed location.

Two days later, Sanaullah Bangulzai was released in Sibi and later provided testimony to the VBMP and the Commission on Enforced Disappearances. However, Mir Zaman and Ahmad Nawaz Sumalani remain forcibly missing.

The families, frustrated by 14 months of inaction despite submitting details to the Commission on Enforced Disappearances, noted that authorities have refused to file an FIR despite the commission’s directives.

Holding state institutions accountable for the enforced disappearances, they warned of escalating their protest by blocking the highway if their demands are not met within a week, emphasizing that any consequences will rest with the authorities.
