QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Students Organisation-Azad (BSO-Azad) on the occasion of the 12th death anniversary of Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri paid rich tribute to the legendary leader of the Baloch national movement, saying he never compromised on the occupation of Baloch land and never abandoned the ideology of independence.
Shoulan Baloch, spokesperson of BSO-Azad, said in a statement that Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri was among those far-sighted Baloch leaders who, fighting through all intellectual and objective difficult circumstances, united the Baloch nation on the long journey toward freedom.
“He provided the Baloch national movement with a clear ideological direction and continued his struggle on the ideology of independence. He was among the founding figures of the Baloch national movement who laid the foundations of resistance against national subjugation and occupation in the form of ideologically organising the Baloch national movement,” she said.
Shoulan Baloch said Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri was not only a great leader but also a true champion of awakening the consciousness of freedom among the Baloch nation, armed with the ideology of liberation.
“When he went into exile, he did not spend that difficult life of exile in despair, but rather in devising a strategy to once again strengthen the Baloch national movement ideologically and practically. A clear example of this is the struggle following his return from exile in the 1990s,” He said.
The BSO-Azad spokesperson said that after his return from exile, Baloch youth recognised him as their leader and followed his philosophy of freedom, through which he emerged as a great messenger of the Baloch national movement who provided a new spirit to Baloch resistance. “He was a principled personality in both his words and actions, and remained an extremely sensitive figure on every aspect of the Baloch national movement,” He said.
Shoulan Baloch said that in freedom movements and revolutions, there are pioneering leaders with whom the identity of those movements is associated, and naming Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri as that pioneering figure whose foundations the freedom movement is linked to would not be wrong.
“He was the leader who, when the Baloch national movement weakened in the 1970s and many leaders turned away from the Baloch national cause and chose the path of silence, treated it as a historical experience from which he learned and gave the Baloch national movement a clear direction in the 1990s,” He said.
She said that among the leaders of the 1970s, Khair Bakhsh was the only successful personality to emerge, whose philosophy today continues in the form of the youth of the Baloch freedom movement.
“It is the success of his ideology that he never compromised, but while advocating for the freedom of the Baloch nation, he made it unequivocally clear to oppressive forces that national movements are never subdued. The proof of this is the Baloch national movement continuing to this day in a more organised and stronger ideological and structural form,” He said.
Shoulan Baloch said that today’s freedom movement follows his philosophy that leaders who are far-sighted and struggle for the future of their nation, standing firm in every difficult circumstance, are never defeated.
“On the other hand, his companions who remained trapped in compromise and ambiguity throughout the Baloch national movement are today known by the titles of failures and traders,” He said.
Concluding his statement, the BSO-Azad spokesperson urged Baloch youth to study Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri, the messenger of freedom, understand his thought and philosophy, and play their national role in the Baloch national movement.
