QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch National Movement (BNM) on Monday commemorated the 12th death anniversary of Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri, one of the most revered figures in Baloch nationalist history. In a statement issued by its spokesperson, the BNM paid tribute to his historic contributions, describing him as a visionary leader who guided a wandering movement toward the definitive path of liberation and provided it with unbreakable foundations.

The BNM spokesperson said the organisation regards Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri’s ideology as a national heritage that continues to inspire millions of Baloch people. He stated that Baba Marri showed the Baloch nation the path to survival and clearly defined its ultimate destination a destination that today’s freedom movement is actively pursuing.

“The BNM regards his ideology as a national heritage. He showed the Baloch nation the path to survival and clearly defined its ultimate destination. Today, millions of Baloch have joined the freedom movement, inspired by his profound guidance and immense sacrifices.” BNM Spokesperson

The spokesperson emphasized that Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri was not merely a traditional tribal chief or a conventional politician, but a revolutionary nationalist philosopher. Through a meticulous analysis of Baloch society, alongside regional and global political dynamics, he concluded that the preservation of Baloch national identity was impossible within the state framework of Pakistan.

The BNM statement noted that repeated failed political experiments convinced Baba Marri that achieving national self-determination through parliament was a distant dream, when even basic civic amenities and fundamental civil rights remained out of reach for the Baloch people. His clarity of thought, the spokesperson said, played a pivotal role in strengthening non-parliamentary nationalist politics across Balochistan.

The BNM spokesperson further stated that Baba Marri rejected the tribal system as obsolete and envisioned a progressive, modern state for the Baloch nation, one founded on the principles of liberty, equality, and justice. He firmly opposed political, social and economic monopolies within Balochistan, while also unequivocally resisting the imperialistic policies of global powers.

Recounting Baba Marri’s personal sacrifices, the spokesperson said he endured years of exile, cast aside his inherited tribal authority, vast lands, and elite privileges, and chose instead to fortify the foundations of the Baloch national liberation movement. He sacrificed everything, including his own children for the survival of his people, standing firm on his principles until his very last breath.

“Enduring exile and casting aside his inherited tribal authority, vast lands, and elite privileges, he chose instead to fortify the foundations of the Baloch national liberation movement. He sacrificed everything – including his own children for the survival of his people, standing like a solid rock on his principles until his very last breath.” BNM Spokesperson

The spokesperson added that Baba Marri educated the Baloch nation on how to wage a modern, ideologically grounded, and structurally organised struggle. The political study circles he established under the banner of Haq Twar meaning The Voice of Truth ignited a flame of consciousness, intellectual inquiry, and decisive action across Balochistan, guiding the nation toward its destination.

Concluding the statement, the BNM spokesperson said Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri’s life and character offer profound lessons in patience, wisdom and strategic clarity. He despised emotionalism, disconnected idealism, and empty rhetoric and taught that substantive politics does not rely on superficial narratives or media propaganda.

“Movements cannot survive on mere slogan-mongering without concrete action. It is this very realistic and disciplined philosophy that breathed life into Baloch resistance politics, which stands in its most formidable and resilient form today.” BNM Spokesperson

The BNM called on the Baloch nation to study and carry forward Baba Marri’s ideology as the guiding framework for the liberation struggle, describing his legacy as more relevant and vital today than ever before.
