Young Man Zahid Baloch Forcibly Disappeared from Karachi, Family Demands Immediate Recovery

Zahid Baloch, a young man from Karachi Lyari, has been subjected to an alleged enforced disappearance since July 17, 2025. According to his family, Zahid was standing by his rickshaw between 5:00 and 5:30 PM, waiting for passengers as part of his daily routine, when several plainclothes individuals reportedly forced him into a vehicle and took him away. He has not been seen or heard from since.

At a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, Zahid’s father, Abdul Hameed Baloch, stated that his son had no links to any illegal activity and was a peaceful, law-abiding citizen. He shared that Zahid had recently graduated from the University of Karachi with a degree in International Relations. Due to financial constraints, Zahid had taken up rickshaw driving to help support his family.

Abdul Hameed further alleged that when the family approached the local police station to file a First Information Report (FIR), authorities refused to register the case, deepening the family’s distress. He emphasized that Zahid had been balancing his academic commitments with laborious work during the day, reflecting his dedication and resilience.

The family has urged the authorities to ensure Zahid’s immediate recovery, inform them about his wellbeing, and launch a transparent, impartial investigation into the incident.
