
At least 516 people have been injured following a powerful explosion and subsequent fire at the Shahid Rajee port in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas.
According to Iranian media, the explosion occurred this afternoon in the Sina container yard at the port, where several containers reportedly contained hazardous materials or chemicals. After the blast, a massive fire broke out, and thick black smoke was visible from several kilometers away.
The intensity of the explosion shattered the windows of nearby buildings, and one building was completely destroyed.
Initial reports confirmed 281 injuries, but the number later rose to 406 and then to 516.
Rescue operations began immediately after the explosion. Emergency services, including the Hormozgan Red Crescent Society, reached the site, transferred the injured to nearby hospitals, and worked to control the fire.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion.
