
ZIARAT, BALOCHISTAN: In the area near Ziarat Cross on the Quetta-Zhob highway in Balochistan, armed men launched a major and intense attack late at night on the joint police and customs office adjacent to the Gharakai Police Station and the Frontier Constabulary (FC) camp. As a result, at least 6 security personnel including an officer were killed, and many others were injured or went missing.
According to initial confirmed reports, the detailed attack by armed men killed 6 personnel including Captain Ziaullah of the 134 Wing. The other deceased personnel include Havaldar Samiullah, Lance Naik Noroz, Lance Naik Shakeel, and Sepoy Sajawal.
More than 7 personnel were also injured in the attack, including FC ICU Havaldar Jahangir, Lance Naik Sardar, Lance Naik Shabbir and Sepoy Anwar, who were immediately transferred for medical treatment.
Sources say the armed attackers seized the joint check post during the attack, took control of the weapons and government property there and later set the building on fire.
Video footage that emerged immediately after the incident shows severe destruction near the customs office at Ziarat Cross close to Gharakai Police Station. Dozens of parked vehicles are burning, and the entire area is engulfed in heavy fire and smoke.
Heavy security forces have cordoned off the area, closed the highway for transportation, and launched a large-scale search operation to find the attackers.
No organization has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
