Armed Attacks Across Balochistan: Police Station Seized in Sibi, Security Forces Targeted in Kech, Gwadar and Khuzdar

QUETTA: A series of coordinated armed incidents were reported across multiple districts of Balochistan on Wednesday, including the temporary takeover of a police station in Sibi and attacks targeting Pakistani security forces in Kech, Gwadar and Khuzdar.

Police Station Seized in Sibi

In Sibi, armed men reportedly took control of Golo town near Sibi on Wednesday evening. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers engaged in heavy gunfire before seizing control of the local police station and other government buildings.

Initial reports suggest that all personnel present inside the police station were detained by the armed group, and weapons and other equipment were confiscated. After taking control of the station, the assailants blocked two major highways Luni Road and Nari Gaj Road where snap-checking of vehicles was reported to be ongoing.

Local sources further stated that armed men were seen patrolling various areas of Luni town and Golo town. As of now, district authorities and law enforcement agencies have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

Attacks on Security Forces in Kech, Gwadar and Khuzdar

Meanwhile, several attacks targeting Pakistani security personnel were reported in other parts of Balochistan.

In Kech, near Sami in the Haftari area along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, a Pakistani forces vehicle was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack. Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle was destroyed in the explosion, with casualties and injuries among personnel feared, though official confirmation is awaited.

In a separate incident in Pasni, a tehsil of Gwadar, a Customs Office was targeted in a grenade attack. No immediate details regarding casualties or damage have been released.

Additionally, in Khuzdar near the Karkh area, armed men reportedly ambushed vehicles carrying personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). At least seven personnel were reported injured in the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for these incidents so far. Authorities have yet to provide detailed official statements regarding the scale of casualties or the security response.
