Quetta: The Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Dil Murad Baloch, has paid tribute to Shaheed Zamur Bugti, her daughter Janan Domki and driver Barkat Domki on the occasion of their 14th martyrdom anniversary.
In a statement, Dil Murad Baloch said that the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom, dignity, and human honor of Balochistan not only strengthened the foundations of the Baloch national movement but also exposed what he described as Pakistan’s brutality and the genocide of the Baloch people.
He stated that the sacrifices of the martyrs are not merely a part of history but a living commitment, reminding every generation that the true strength of the struggle for freedom lies in truth, steadfastness, and continuous resistance.
Referring to the incident, Dil Murad Baloch said that on January 31, 2012, Pakistani military intelligence agencies ambushed and targeted Zamur Bugti in Gizri, Karachi. As a result of the attack, Zamur Bugti, her 13-year-old daughter Janan Domki and driver Barkat were killed.
He added that one of the reasons behind Zamur Bugti’s killing was her family background, as she was the granddaughter of Shaheed Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and the sister of Brahamdagh Bugti. However, he emphasized that Zamur Bugti was not merely a housewife, but a politically conscious woman who actively supported Baloch activists and victims of state oppression.
Dil Murad Baloch further said that the killing of Zamur Bugti, her young daughter and the driver was part of Pakistan’s policy of collective punishment against the Baloch nation, under which, he claimed, the state did not hesitate to kill a woman along with a child.
The statement concluded by saying that the Baloch National Movement reiterates its tribute to Shaheed Zamur Bugti, Janan Domki, and Shaheed Barkat, and reaffirmed that the sanctity of the martyrs’ sacrifices remains central to the movement’s struggle, with Baloch national freedom as its stated objective.
