Quetta: Advocate Raheem Baloch, former Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), paid tribute to Khan Mir Mehrab Khan and other Baloch martyrs on the occasion of Baloch Martyrs’ Day, observed annually on November 13.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Raheem Baloch said that the Baloch nation was among the few in the region that offered fierce resistance and bravely fought against British imperial forces in the nineteenth century.
He recalled that on 13 November 1839, Khan Mir Mehrab Khan, along with his nobles, fought valiantly in defense of the Miri Fort in Kalat against invading British troops and embraced martyrdom a sacrifice that secured them an enduring place of honor in history.
Raheem Baloch added that the Baloch people continue their struggle against Pakistan’s “forcible occupation” and “colonial exploitation” of Balochistan’s resources with the same spirit and determination shown by Khan Mehrab Khan and his comrades.
