Quetta: Rahim Baloch Advocate strongly condemned the violent crackdown by Pakistani forces on protesters of the Awami Action Committee in Muzaffarabad and other parts of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the martyrdom of several activists. He said these incidents have once again exposed Pakistan’s colonial oppression and state violence in the region.
He added that Pakistan’s recent state terrorism in Kashmir is highly condemnable. The Kashmiri people have not forgotten the historic reality that Pakistan’s control over this land was never the result of a referendum, but rather the outcome of the aggression launched on 22 October 1947, which brought bloodshed, plunder and colonial occupation to the region. Pakistan, eager to secure Kashmir’s waters for Punjab, denied Kashmiris the opportunity to decide their national future through a plebiscite, committing an act of aggression instead.
Rahim Baloch noted that the growing awareness among the Kashmiri people about Pakistan’s colonial domination, as well as their rising consciousness regarding their national identity, homeland and resources, is a positive sign for all oppressed nations of the region. He praised the courage and awareness demonstrated by the Kashmiri people in their struggle.
He further said that hiding behind false slogans of Muslim nationalism can no longer sustain Punjabi colonialism and occupation in Kashmir. “I salute the brave Kashmiri people and martyrs for their courageous struggle for their rights,” he concluded.
