BYC Leadership Presented in Court Again, Remand Extended by 20 Days

Quetta: On Saturday, the detained leadership of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court. The court extended their police remand by an additional 20 days.

Those brought to court include Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi, Mama Ghafar, Sabghatullah Shah Ji and Bibarg Baloch.

During the court appearance, the detainees were warmly received by members of the public, family members and political activists.

In a video clip from the courtroom, Dr. Mahrang Baloch was seen criticizing the judicial process, saying, “We’re here for another remand.” In another video, she was heard questioning the judge: “On what grounds are we being sent on further remand without any interrogation?”

All detainees appeared resolute and composed in court. It is worth noting that Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleagues have been in custody under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) for the past three months. Their remand periods have been extended multiple times, first for 10 days, then 15, and now for another 20 days, based on what their supporters claim are false and politically motivated charges.
