Shikarpur: A bomb blast targeted the Jaffer Express train near Shikarpur, causing the derailment of three carriages and disrupting rail services. The train, which was en route from Rawalpindi to Quetta, was struck near the Sultan Kot area, according to the Divisional Transportation Officer (DTO) of Pakistan Railways.
Following the explosion, rescue teams arrived at the site and began relief efforts. Rail operations on the affected section were temporarily suspended.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), a Baloch separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the group’s spokesperson said the train was hit with a remotely detonated improvised explosive device (IED) planted near Humayun Sharif in Shikarpur.
According to the statement, the attack was carried out because personnel from the Pakistani military were reportedly traveling aboard the train. In this attack several Pakistani security personnel injured and led to the derailment of multiple train compartments.
