Quetta: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a banned separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the killing of Pakistani Army officer Major Anwar Kakar in a recent bomb blast in Quetta.
In a statement released to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that the organization’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) carried out the attack based on intelligence provided by its “Zirab” wing. The spokesperson claimed that Major Anwar Kakar was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) as part of a “planned operation against the occupying Pakistani forces.”
“The BLA accepts responsibility for the attack,” the statement read. “Further details will be shared with the media soon.”
The blast occurred in the Jabal al-Noor area near Brewery Road in Quetta, where Major Kakar’s vehicle was hit by a magnetic bomb, resulting in his death on the spot.
