Zamyad Vehicle Owners Protest Closure of Abdoi Crossing Point, Block CPEC Highway M-8

Kech, Balochistan: In response to the ongoing closure of the Abdoi border crossing, owners of Zamyad transport vehicles have launched a protest sit-in on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) M-8 highway, suspending all traffic flow.

On Thursday, the demonstrators blocked the main highway at Ghanna, near Jadgal Dan (D Baloch), with a large number of vehicle owners participating in the protest.

Protesters stated that despite a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and a return to normalcy within Iran, the Abdoi crossing point remains shut, severely impacting livelihoods dependent on cross-border trade. They described the situation as a growing employment crisis.

The demonstrators are demanding the immediate reopening of the Abdoi border and the removal of what they call an “artificial blockade”, so that vehicles can resume loading fuel and goods.

They declared that the sit-in will continue indefinitely until their demands are met, and the M-8 highway will remain blocked as a form of pressure.

As of now, no response has been received from the district administration or relevant government authorities regarding negotiations or any plan to reopen the border.
