Quetta June 23, 2025: Multiple violent incidents were reported across Balochistan over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and the enforced disappearance of another. The victims include two former detainees, a security guard and a youth allegedly detained by security forces.
In Kech, a young man identified as Adeel, son of Master Iqbal, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Park Hotel in Turbat’s Absar area. Adeel had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance in March 2023 and was released after several months in custody. His killing has raised concerns among human rights observers about the recurring pattern of violence targeting former detainees.
In a separate incident, the body of Sami Sarparah, a resident of Nushki, was found in the Borbunj area of Lije, Kharan. He had reportedly been taken away by armed men earlier this week. Levies officials confirmed that the body, bearing bullet wounds, was recovered and transported to Patkan Hospital for examination.
Meanwhile, in the provincial capital Quetta, gunmen on motorcycles fatally shot a private security guard, identified as Huzoor Bakhsh, on Qambrani Road. The incident occurred in the early hours of the day, and the body was shifted to the hospital for post-mortem. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of yet.
In another development, reports from Tump tehsil in Kech confirm that a local youth, Sohrab Baloch, son of Rahim Bakhsh, was allegedly detained by Pakistani security forces and is currently missing. Sohrab had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance in 2021.
