In the Wadh area of Khuzdar, Balochistan, an armed attack by unknown assailants last night resulted in the death of Atta-ur-Rehman, brother of Death Squad leader Shafiq Mengal. Reports also indicate that Shafiq Mengal’s nephew, Mati-ur-Rehman Mengal, was injured in the incident.
According to sources, Atta-ur-Rehman was indeed the brother of Shafiq Mengal. It is worth noting that Shafiq Mengal has previously been accused of serious crimes, including the enforced disappearance and killing of Baloch youth, as well as burying them in mass graves. He is also reportedly linked to a state-backed armed group known as the “Death Squad.”
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no group or organization has claimed responsibility so far.
