The alleged extrajudicial killing of a young man, Ehsan Shah, in Mastung has raised serious concerns about human rights abuses in Balochistan. His mother, in a deeply emotional plea, demanded justice and questioned the role of state forces in the region.
“My son’s blood is asking a question, and the only answer is justice,” she said. “If my son was a criminal, prove his crime. Otherwise, punish his killers or shoot me too.”
Speaking directly to the state institutions, she asked whether they are meant to protect the people or serve as a constant threat. “They are not protectors. They are murderers,” she declared.
According to Ehsan Shah’s mother, the family of a friend who was injured during the same incident is being threatened by security forces and warned not to give any statements or testimonies. “They’ve said the entire family will be harmed and forcibly disappeared if they speak out,” she claimed.
Despite expressing doubt that justice will ever be served, she added: “I know they are powerful, and I may not get justice but as a mother, I demand it.”
