In the Kalat district of Balochistan, a large number of armed men established control over the main highway for several hours last night.
According to sources, the armed group set up multiple checkpoints across various parts of Kalat city’s Mahlubi area, conducting strict vehicle searches. During the process, several government employees were detained. However, they were reportedly released after it was confirmed they had no ties to the military or intelligence agencies.
During the operation, the assailants also set fire to a mobile tower, destroying it completely. No casualties have been reported, but internet services in the area have been down since the incident.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the action, although Baloch armed groups have previously carried out similar checkpoints to monitor the movement of state forces.
