The Baloch Students Front (BSF), a prominent Baloch student organization, has alleged that its Central Chairman, Javed Baloch, has been forcibly disappeared by state authorities after being taken into custody in Karachi.
In an official statement, the BSF Central Spokesperson said that around 3 AM last night, state agencies abducted Javed Baloch from Blaze Tower in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area. “The extra-judicial arrest and enforced disappearance of the head of a peaceful student organization is not only condemnable but a grave violation of constitutional rights, demanding Javed Baloch’s immediate and safe recovery.
Describing Javed Baloch as a peaceful, talented, and principled student leader, the BSF emphasized his commitment to education, student rights, and the promotion of democratic and constitutional values. the spokesperson added “His abduction and disappearance is an attack on political awareness and intellectual freedom among students, and a clear violation of the law”.
The BSF noted that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees every citizen the right to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and political participation. “Despite these rights, state institutions are trampling upon the Constitution by targeting peaceful student leaders. Javed Baloch’s disappearance has created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among students, leaving many feeling unsafe and mentally distressed.”
The spokesperson Furhter said “The abduction and torture of innocent students reflects a dangerous reality, peaceful political activism for rightful demands has become a crime in this country”.
Concluding the statement, the BSF called on the government, judiciary, state institutions, and human rights organizations to ensure the immediate and safe recovery of Chairman Javed Baloch. “This cycle of enforced disappearances of students must end. If our chairman is not recovered promptly, the Baloch Students Front reserves the right to launch nationwide protests and resistance under its democratic and constitutional rights.”
