A central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Dr. Mehrang Baloch, is facing severe inhumane conditions in prison, where she is being kept under strict surveillance, provided with inadequate food, and denied basic rights.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s sister, Nadia Baloch, stated on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter):
“Today, I went to Huda Jail, Quetta, to meet Dr. Mahrang Baloch. The Balochistan High Court had directed the jail authorities to allow us regular visits. However, in clear violation of the High Court’s March 25, 2025 order in CP NO, the jail authorities kept me waiting for three hours and attempted to prevent the meeting.”
She further stated that Mahrang’s life and health are in serious danger as she is being held among dangerous criminals. When she resisted, she was threatened with solitary confinement.
Extreme Surveillance & Violation of Privacy
Nadia Baloch revealed that cameras have been placed directly in front of her sister’s jail cell and washroom, subjecting her to 24-hour surveillance. Mehrang has no privacy, even in personal matters, and her clothing choices are being monitored.
Unhygienic Food & Medical Neglect
The food provided to Mehrang and fellow detainee Beebo is extremely unhygienic, and there are concerns that it may be contaminated. Both prisoners have fallen ill, yet they are being denied medical treatment.
Despite being a political prisoner, Dr. Mahrang Baloch is not being given the rights that should be granted under the law, further proving the discriminatory and unjust treatment of Baloch detainees.
Call for Immediate Action
In this critical situation, Nadia Baloch has made an urgent appeal to the legal community of Quetta and human rights organizations to intervene immediately and ensure the safety and fair trial of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Beebo.
