Khuzdar: We will stand like an unbreakable wall against the state-backed death squad.

Khuzdar (Monitoring Desk)
The land of Totak once again faces the aggression of oppressive forces, but the tribal leaders and people here, with their honor and pride, will not accept this injustice under any circumstances. Yesterday, a grand jirga was held in Tootak, attended by elders from various tribes. The jirga was chaired by renowned tribal leader Sardar Ali Muhammad Qalandrani, accompanied by Prince Mohammad Ahmadzai, son of the Khan of Kalat and other prominent tribal chiefs.

The jirga discussed in detail the formation of the notorious death squads in the area, enforced disappearances and the deteriorating security situation. The tribal elders unanimously passed three important resolutions:

  1. Immediate recovery of all forcibly disappeared individuals across Balochistan.
  2. Immediate withdrawal of death squads from Tootak, with the warning of severe public reaction if not addressed.
  3. If the government ignores these demands, roads across Balochistan will be blocked.

In his address, Sardar Ali Muhammad Qalandarani said, Our conscience is at peace, our hands are not stained with innocent blood, we have committed no crime, but I want to make it clear that we will stand like a wall of steel against this oppression. He further stated, We have faced the worst atrocities for the past 15 years, but we will no longer tolerate any more injustice. If the state does not take notice of this aggression, then the people will make their own decisions for protection and peace. We will not allow killers like Shafiq Mengal to take control of Tootak’s land again under any circumstances.

He said that this jirga reflects the anger and protest of the affected people and sends a clear message to the people of Balochistan that oppression and state repression will no longer be tolerated.
