The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Tuesday issued a statement over a shooting incident, which took place in the Wadi Al Kabir area. In its online statement, the ROP said it dealt with a shooting incident in the vicinity of a mosque in the Wadi Al Kabir, which resulted in the death of four people and the injury of a number of others, according to preliminary information.
According to ROP, all security measures and procedures have been taken to deal with the situation, confirming that collecting evidence for investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, the Royal Oman Police expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, asking Allah Almighty to grant their families and loved ones, patience, solace, and a speedy recovery for the injured.No further information was shared about the perpetrators. Following the shooting, the US Embassy in Muscat issued a security alert saying: “U.S. citizens should remain vigilant, monitor local news and heed the directions of local authorities.”
