Baloch National Movement to Hold Three-Day Campaign in Geneva, Including 12th Balochistan International Conference
GENEVA: The Baloch National Movement (BNM) will hold a three-day campaign in Geneva from September 24 to 26, 2026, featuring a conference, rally, protest and photo exhibition, according to the organization.
The campaign, themed “A Legacy of Resistance, Freedom in the Future,” will open on September 24 with BNM’s 12th Balochistan International Conference (BIC12) at the Geneva Press Club. The conference, titled “Occupied Balochistan at the Crossroads: Human Rights, Justice and the Struggle for Freedom,” will mark one year since the killing of Sangat Zubair Baloch and will examine what the organization describes as the political, humanitarian and strategic challenges facing Balochistan.
The conference will be held at 3:00 PM at the Geneva Press Club, located at Chemin de l’Impératrice 18, Pregny-Chambésy, with dinner to be provided afterward.
Speakers announced by BNM include:
- Dr. Naseem Baloch, Chairman of Baloch National Movement (BNM), who the organization says joined the Baloch national movement as a student and was forcibly disappeared twice
- John McDonnell, British Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington since 1997 and former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer (2015–2020), who has raised Balochistan-related issues in the UK Parliament
- Manzoor Pashteen, leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and a prominent Pashtun rights activist from South Waziristan
- Dr. Lakhu Lohana, a UK-based Sindhi community leader and former General Secretary and Chairman of the World Sindhi Congress
- Jamal Baloch, media coordinator with Paank, BNM’s human-rights department
- Sohail Ahmed Abro, UK-based chairman of the Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM), who has represented Sindh at UN Human Rights Council-linked forums in Geneva
- Sherbaz Khan, activist representing the Workers Party Gilgit-Baltistan
- Dr. Ghafoor Liwal, Afghan scholar and former Afghan Ambassador to Iran
- Antonio Stango, President of the Italian Federation for Human Rights (FIDU) and professor of International Organizations and Human Rights at Rome Link Campus University
- Shahid Qazi, UK-based journalist and host of The Unmuted Voice, formerly with NBC News and ITV News
The event will be hosted by Mahra Baloch and Saleem Ellahi of Baloch National Movement (BNM).
On September 25, BNM will hold a rally and protest at Geneva’s Broken Chair monument, alongside a photo exhibition. A photo exhibition begins at 10:00 AM, followed by a rally at 11:00 AM and a protest from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The rally route runs from the lakeside promenade outside Hotel President Wilson, along Rue de Lausanne and Avenue de France, to Place des Nations near the Broken Chair.
The photo exhibition will continue on September 26 at the same location.
