WADH, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has said that the killing of four civilians during a firing incident at a wedding ceremony in Wadh is part of what it described as an ongoing state policy to carry out mass killings of Baloch civilians in Balochistan.
In a statement, BYC said that direct firing by Pakistani Army/FC personnel during a wedding celebration at Kili Yar Muhammad in Sonaro, Wadh, turned a moment of celebration into mourning, killing four civilians on the spot and injuring several others, including a large number of women and children.
The committee said that the Sonaro incident is not an isolated event but part of a broader, deliberate policy under which Baloch civilians are being killed indiscriminately on a daily basis. It further said that the Pakistani state’s actions reflect a pattern of using fear, violence, terror and collective punishment to suppress the Baloch nation based on identity.
BYC said the bodies of the victims remain on the road as families continue a sit-in protest that has now entered its 24th hour and expressed solidarity with the demonstrators. The committee urged the public to support the protest and amplify the voices of the victims’ families.
BYC also called on international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of what it described as ongoing state violence, excessive use of force, and serious human rights violations against civilians in Balochistan, demanding that Pakistan be held accountable on global forums.
