Prisoner Killed in Custody in Dera Murad Jamali, Bullet-Riddled Body of Young Man Recovered in Khuzdar, Man Killed in Noshki Firing

QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Two civilians have been killed in separate violent incidents in the districts of Khuzdar and Dera Murad Jamali.

In Dera Murad Jamali, a civilian in police custody was shot dead, an incident police administration is reportedly attempting to portray as accidental.

According to local sources, the body of a young man, identified as Samiullah, was recovered from the Goniku area of Khuzdar district. The victim had reportedly been shot multiple times by unidentified assailants.

The discovery of the body triggered widespread fear in the area, though forces and local administration have so far provided no information on the motive behind the killing or those responsible.

Separately, in Dera Murad Jamali, a civilian named Mukhtiar Ali, belonging to the Bizdar tribe, was shot dead while in police custody at the City police station.

According to sources, Mukhtiar Ali had been arrested and detained at the station a few days earlier in connection with a minor altercation.

Following the incident, the station’s moharrir (record clerk) and police officials claimed the shot was fired “accidentally.” However, public and political circles, along with the victim’s family, have rejected this account as an outright lie and an attempt to cover up the facts.

Analysts and local sources say this is not an isolated accident but another instance in a pattern of custodial killings reported across Balochistan, in which police personnel allegedly present such deaths as accidental in order to shift blame and avoid accountability.

Mukhtiar Ali’s family has strongly protested the killing and demanded that senior authorities launch an immediate, impartial and transparent investigation to hold the responsible police personnel accountable.

Meanwhile, in Noshki unknown armed men open fire and killed one.

According to hospital sources, a man identified as Muhammad Hayat was killed in firing in the Kali Gharib Abad area.
