BYC Condemns Destruction of Homes by Pakistani Forces in Gomazi, Demands UN Intervention

Kech, Balochistan: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned what it describes as the destruction, looting, and burning of civilian homes by Pakistani security forces in the Gomazi area of Kech, calling the incident a blatant example of state fascism.

According to the committee, the operation took place two days ago under the pretext of a search operation, during which multiple homes were vandalized and subsequently set on fire. Women, children, and elderly residents were reportedly subjected to fear and intimidation while civilian property was extensively damaged.

The BYC specifically identified the homes of Khalil Niki and Liaqat Sahibdad as having been burned, while the residence of Rasheed Baloch was demolished using a tractor. Forces were also looting cash, jewelry, and other valuables from the targeted homes.

“Burning homes, destroying property, besieging communities, and subjecting people to collective punishment are not only gross violations of basic human rights but are part of a deliberate policy of Baloch genocide,” the committee said in its statement.

The BYC noted that such operations are not new, pointing to similar incidents in Noshki, Zahri, Awaran, Bolan, Mashkay, and Panjgur, where hundreds of homes have previously been targeted, thousands of people forcibly displaced, and farmlands, tube wells, and even solar panels destroyed over several decades.

The committee has urged human rights organizations, relevant United Nations mechanisms, and civil society groups to take immediate notice of the Gomazi incident and similar occurrences across Balochistan, and to hold Pakistan accountable for its alleged policy of property destruction and forced displacement of civilians.
