18 Security Personnel Killed in 14 Attacks, Posts Captured and Weapons Seized, Says BLA

QUETTA: The Spokesperson for Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks across Balochistan, stating that 18 Pakistani security personnel were killed and several others injured in 14 عملیات carried out between March 19 and March 28.

In a statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters conducted operations in Washuk, Kharan, Kalat, Mastung, Surab, Khuzdar, Quetta, Turbat, and Barkhan. He claimed that during these attacks, BLA fighters took control of multiple check posts, detained personnel and seized weapons and military equipment. Two BLA fighters were also reported killed during clashes.

According to the statement, on March 19, BLA fighters targeted a main military camp along the CPEC route in Washuk using rockets and other weapons, causing casualties and damage. A nearby Levies post was also captured, with personnel detained and disarmed before being released. On the same day in Kharan’s Breshonk area, a group described as a “death squad” was attacked, resulting in casualties, while a BLA fighter identified as Abdullah Baloch alias Sarban was killed in clashes.

In Kalat’s Chhapar area, the group claimed to have targeted foot patrol personnel, forcing them to retreat. In Mastung’s Gargina area, an ambush was carried out on advancing forces, where two military vehicles were hit, leaving three personnel dead and several injured. The statement also claimed that a quadcopter drone used by forces was shot down during the clash.

On March 20, the group stated it took control of a customs post in Surab, detaining personnel and seizing weapons. It also claimed to have ambushed a military convoy in the Hanjira area of Zehri, resulting in eight fatalities among security personnel, with forces reportedly retreating. In Khuzdar’s Bulbul area of Zehri, a military truck was targeted in a remote-controlled IED attack.

The statement added that on March 21, BLA fighters took control of the Lijje area in Kharan and addressed local residents at an Eid gathering. The same day, another fighter, Yaqub Baloch alias Dura, who had been injured in earlier clashes, died of his wounds.

On March 23, in Kalat’s Mangochar area, BLA claimed to have targeted a bomb disposal squad in an IED attack, killing three personnel, and later attacked an armored vehicle with rockets.

On March 26, an IED attack was carried out in the Zarkho area near Daghari, Quetta, targeting personnel at a newly established post, killing two and injuring one.

On March 27, the group claimed it attacked a military post in Turbat’s Gunna area using grenade launchers, causing further casualties.

On March 28, BLA fighters reportedly targeted a post in the Girapti area of Barkhan, killing one personnel and causing additional losses. The group also claimed to have taken control of the Quetta-Karachi highway in Surab for several hours, conducting snap-checking and killing an alleged intelligence operative after identification. In the Gadar area of Surab, personnel were targeted in a grenade attack while attempting to establish a checkpoint at a farmhouse, resulting in injuries.

The statement further identified two deceased fighters as Abdul Wahid Rodaini Baloch alias Sarban, a graduate in English Literature from the University of Balochistan, and Yaqub Baloch alias Dura from Dasht, Turbat. Both were described as having joined the group in recent years and were killed during clashes in Kharan and Mastung, respectively.

The claims made in the statement could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate official response from Pakistani authorities.
