QUETTA: A terrorism case has reportedly been registered by the Counter Terrorism Department against a journalist for posting a video of Mahrang Baloch on social media.
According to reports, the journalist, Niaz Baloch, said he has been facing legal cases and state pressure for the past two years due to his writings on issues affecting the Baloch people. Despite the challenges, he managed to obtain bail and continue addressing the case in court.
The case was initially heard in the sessions court of Mastung, where lawyers Advocate Chief Ataullah and Advocate Najeeb Shahwani represented him during several hearings. It has now been transferred to the sessions court in Quetta.
Niaz Baloch, a student from a modest background whose father works as a bus driver and younger siblings study in college and university, stated that due to limited financial resources, handling the case alone is extremely difficult. He has appealed to the lawyers’ community across Balochistan to support him and assist in defending the case.
