Two Forcibly Disappeared Youths Found Dead in Panjgur and Mashkay

Yaya Fazal Fateh Shahdad

QUETTA: The bodies of two young men who were reportedly victims of enforced disappearance in Panjgur and Mashkay have been recovered, raising fresh concerns over extrajudicial killings in the region.

In Mashkay, a tehsil of Awaran, the body of Fatah, son of Shahdad, was recovered. He was a resident of the Mewar area of Mashkay and worked as a driver.

According to local sources, Fatah was taken into custody by Pakistani forces on January 13, 2026, while transporting passengers in his vehicle. His family stated that he had been missing since that day. Sources confirmed that his body was recovered from Mashkay.

In a separate incident in Panjgur, the body of Yahya, son of Fazal Karim and a resident of Khudabadan, was also recovered.

Local sources said that Yahya Baloch had been detained by security forces along with another individual, who was reportedly injured in firing, and shifted to an undisclosed location. It was further claimed that Frontier Corps (FC) personnel later left Yahya’s body at a civil hospital.

Some sources said that, the involvement of security forces and a state-backed armed group, commonly referred to as a “death squad,” in the killing.

The incidents have once again intensified concerns over enforced disappearances and extrajudicial actions in Balochistan, with families demanding accountability and transparent investigations.
