QUETTA: The Central Committee of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) convened its fifth meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Naseem Baloch, where members reviewed departmental performance and discussed the overall political situation in Balochistan and the wider region. The party also announced plans to intensify its international diplomatic campaign against Pakistan’s recently declared policy of “collective punishment.”
According to a statement issued after the meeting, reports were presented by the party’s Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Information and Welfare departments. Organizational matters, party finances and the broader political climate were also discussed. The committee made several key organizational and political decisions during the session.
Addressing the meeting, BNM Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch said the Baloch nation is currently facing what he termed “severe human rights violations,” including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, forced displacement and collective punishment. He said that these measures form part of a systematic strategy aimed at weakening the Baloch national movement.
He stated that despite harsh conditions and prolonged military operations over the past 25 years, the Baloch national movement (BNM) remains active. He further claimed that the state has failed to suppress the movement through force and is now resorting to “inhuman” policies to pressure the population into abandoning the struggle.
Dr. Naseem Baloch announced that the party would intensify its international outreach to highlight said human rights violations in Balochistan. He said the BNM plans to accelerate diplomatic efforts and engage with international media, human rights organizations and parliamentary forums to present what he called the “Baloch national question.” He also emphasized the need to strengthen the capacity of the party’s Foreign Affairs and Human Rights departments.
The chairman noted that, as a national political party, the BNM carries a “dual responsibility”: to organize political resistance and awareness within Balochistan while simultaneously advocating internationally. He stressed that effective implementation of party programs is a shared responsibility of the cabinet, central committee, and all office bearers.
During the meeting, Secretary General Dil Murad Baloch also addressed participants, stating that party policies are not limited to a specific leadership term but reflect the broader goals of the national movement. He emphasized the importance of unity within party institutions, while maintaining that ideological principles are non-negotiable.
Dil Murad Baloch highlighted the need for consultation and coordination among various political and social components of the Baloch movement before making major strategic decisions. He warned that internal imbalance or sidelining certain components of the movement could negatively affect its international image.
Concluding the session, he called for internal accountability, urging the party to conduct an honest assessment of its organizational structure, membership and political influence. He stressed that a structured political strategy and an effective international diplomatic campaign are essential for advancing the movement’s objectives.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance organizational coherence and strengthen political and diplomatic engagement at both domestic and international levels.
