QUETTA: A high-level meeting on the progress of Safe City projects in Balochistan was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, officials said.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister received a detailed briefing on the installation of advanced cameras, command-and-control systems, and digital monitoring networks across major cities and highways in Balochistan.

The so called Chief Minister stated that a principled decision has been made to establish a Safe City Authority in Balochistan, aligned with modern security requirements. He directed that necessary financial and technical resources be provided on a priority basis and that all administrative and technical hurdles be removed to accelerate project implementation.

Under the Safe City initiative, continuous monitoring of the road network, sensitive installations, and public areas will be ensured.

Officials noted that following coordinated attacks across multiple cities in Balochistan by Baloch armed separatist groups, additional security measures have been implemented to safeguard major highways, sensitive installations, and public areas. The attacks, which targeted government and security infrastructure, have prompted authorities to accelerate the installation of advanced monitoring systems under the Safe City initiative.
