QUETTA: The resignation of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, head of the Balochistan National Party and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, from the National Assembly has been approved after a year.
Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal had submitted his resignation from the National Assembly last year in protest. He had won the National Assembly seat from NA-256 Khuzdar in the 2024 general elections.
He had consistently expressed concerns regarding the election results. Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal said that in some constituencies, election results were altered through Form 47, and according to him, one of the seats was taken away from him and awarded to his rival candidate.
It is worth noting that Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal has always been vocal in the National Assembly about issues concerning Balochistan, particularly regarding missing persons and provincial rights. Recently, during the Asma Jahangir Conference held in Lahore, he reiterated his concerns about the situation in Balochistan and related policy matters.
