Quetta: 38 College Assistant Professors and Lecturers, Including 6 Women, Suspended for Participating in Strike

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has suspended 38 college assistant professors and lecturers, including six women, for three months over their participation in ongoing employee strikes across Balochistan.

According to a notification issued by the Chief Secretary of Balochistan, the action was taken under the BEDA Act for participating in strikes, locking government offices and disrupting official work. The suspended employees belong to various colleges.

Among those suspended is Abdul Qudoos Kakar, Chairman of the Balochistan Grand Alliance the umbrella body of protesting government employees.

The notification states that the suspended officials will remain out of service for three months.

The Balochistan Grand Alliance has been staging protests and strikes across Balochistan to press for their demands, including service structure, allowances and other employment-related issues. The alliance has also recently announced plans to block highways and intensify protests if their demands are not accepted.
