Quetta: The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has strongly condemned baseless allegations made against the organization during a recent press conference by representatives of the Government of Balochistan, terming the remarks irresponsible and part of a negative narrative-building campaign.
In an official statement, the BSAC said that the accusations leveled by government officials were fabricated and unsubstantiated, adding that such actions are “deeply concerning, especially when made by state representatives without investigation or verification.”
The organization said that attempts to malign the BSAC were aimed at pushing Baloch students away from their legitimate educational rights. “Negative propaganda against student organizations is a failed attempt to distance Baloch youth from education and their lawful rights,” the statement read.
BSAC described itself as an active student organization working for educational rights, academic environment improvement, and social development in Balochistan. It stated that the group has been striving to encourage Baloch youth toward education and promote cultural and academic activities.
The statement highlighted several initiatives of the organization, including book fairs under the “Balochistan Kitab Karwan” campaign and literacy drives against lack of facilities in educational institutions. BSAC said thousands of students are associated with the organization across the province.
The committee criticized and described as harassment, pressure tactics and restrictions on political and academic activities in Balochistan. It said that instead of addressing corruption and systemic issues in educational institutions, authorities were targeting students who raise their voices.
“We believe authorities are fearful of Baloch youth because they study, question, think critically, and struggle for social improvement,” the statement said, adding that questioning and criticism had been “turned into a crime.”
BSAC reiterated that it operates strictly within the constitutional framework and is not involved in any illegal activities. It urged government representatives to refrain from irresponsible allegations and to create a conducive environment for peaceful and democratic activities in Balochistan.
The statement concluded with a call for respect for freedom of expression and academic rights in the Balochistan.
