
Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for two separate attacks carried out in the Jhao and Jiwani areas on January 3, which it said resulted in the deaths of nine personnel and injuries to six others.
In a statement issued by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the group said its fighters ambushed a military convoy in the Koto-Kotori area of Jhao using heavy weapons. According to the statement, two vehicles in the convoy were damaged, seven personnel were killed, and six were critically wounded.
The statement further said that following the attack, security forces conducted raids on nearby houses. The group said its fighters withdrew safely after the operation.
In a separate operation, the BLF said its fighters carried out an intelligence-based attack in the Panwan area of Jiwani at around 6:00 p.m. the same day. The statement claimed that two Military Intelligence (MI) personnel were killed during the attack and that their official weapons were seized.
The BLF claimed responsibility for killing seven personnel and injuring six in Jhao, and for killing two MI personnel in Jiwani. The claims could not be independently verified, and Pakistani authorities had not issued an official response at the time of reporting.
