QUETTA, BALOCHSITAN: The families of two young men from Kech district have voiced concern over their enforced disappearance since late August and are demanding their safe recovery, according to a statement from the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), a rights advocacy group that campaigns on behalf of families of the disappeared in Balochistan.
According to the statement, Sohail Tagrani, 27, son of Bahram Tagrani and Mohammad Tagrani, 22, son of Mullah Saifullah Tagrani both residents of the Khalilabad area of Kech, have disappeared since August 30.
The two were reportedly detained by a local “death squad” while returning from Pedrak Bazaar and were said to have subsequently been handed over to Pakistani forces. No information about their whereabouts has been available since.
The families have called on the relevant authorities to immediately provide information about the two men. They said that if any case or charge exists against them, they should be produced before a court in accordance with the law.
VBMP echoed the families’ demands, calling on senior authorities to secure the immediate recovery of Sohail Tagrani and Mohammad Tagrani, to provide information to their families and, if any allegations exist against them to present them publicly before a court rather than hold them without due process.
