QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) in front of the Quetta Press Club against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued for the 6,346th consecutive day.
Families of missing persons, along with people from various walks of life, visited the protest camp and expressed their opposition to enforced disappearances. They demanded the immediate recovery of forcibly disappeared persons, particularly forcibly disappeared Baloch women.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that Safia Baloch was forcibly disappeared on August 24, while Ameera Bangulzai and Najma Bangulzai were forcibly disappeared on August 19 after being detained along with their children by security forces in Quetta.
He said that similarly, Mahjabeen, a student at the University of Balochistan, has been forcibly disappeared since May 27 last year, while hundreds of other Baloch women, including Nasreena, have also been subjected to enforced disappearance. None of them has so far been presented before a court, nor has information about their whereabouts been provided to their families.
Nasrullah Baloch expressed serious concern over the enforced disappearance of Baloch women and their continued failure to be presented before the courts, saying that the enforced disappearance of any citizen, including women, is a serious violation of the country’s laws and human rights, which cannot be condemned enough.
He said that it is the constitutional responsibility of the rulers and the judiciary to take notice of such unconstitutional actions and ensure the immediate recovery of missing persons, particularly forcibly disappeared Baloch women. If any individual faces an allegation, it should be made public and the person should be presented before a court in accordance with the law and given the right to legal proceedings.
